Social Actions Projects 2017
At the end of their third year, the students of the Departments of Graphic Design and Advertising submit individual final projects – required to obtain their bachelor’s degree.
These academic projects are thorough conceptual, design and communication studies that allow them to demonstrate the different learnings acquired throughout their curriculum.
With the aim of involving students in real case studies and team work, and engaging them in social actions, a new approach to the development of these projects is implemented as of the academic year 2016/2017: working in five mixed groups from both the Departments of Graphic Design and Advertising, and developing projects from which different Non-Governmental Organizations would benefit. These projects are supervised by university instructors and professional consultants.
The main purposes are:
- To help 5 NGOs with their design and communication strategies
- To bridge the gap between the university and professional environments with the students having to work on an academic project that fits into the reality of a specific client
- To encourage team work and social engagement
Byblos Bank supported this initiative, and thanks to this partnership, the students are able to deliver factual marketing materials and communications campaigns to the NGOs.
The NGOs were selected following specific criteria – Independent Lebanese organizations operating in one of these fields: Arts, Architecture, Culture, Environment, Heritage, Humanitarian and Medical. These types of Lebanese NGOs have suffered in the last few years from the lack of financing due to the allocation of aids and funds to a major cause: refugees.
